Aims and Outcomes

Throughout the course of this session we hope to:

  • Raise awareness of the difficulties looked after children experience
  • Examine stereotypes of looked after children
  • Examine Corporate Parenting Responsibilities to looked after Children

As a result of the session it is hoped that participants will:

  • Promote a Greater Awareness We hope that participants will raise awareness within their communities of the challenges looked after children face
  • Drive Forward Key Policies As you will know they are a range of policies in place that if applied, can go a long way to meeting the needs of our looked after population and care leavers. By increasing your awareness of the issues that these young people face participants will be better informed in making the hard choices around finance in these times of budgetary constraints.
  • Champion the Cause of Looked After Children We hope that you will champion the needs of, and be inspirational for, your Looked After children and young people and care leavers. These are ‘your bairns’ after all.
